As a scientist, I am fascinated by ecology and the way it can constrain or potentiate evolutionary patterns, and I use bacteria to explore eco-evolutionary dynamics. Conceptually, I am interested in the evolution of novelty and the origins of inter-species interactions, such as predation and the natural ecology of antibiotics. Some of my work is at the interface of experimental evolution and climate change. During my PhD in Greg Velicer's lab at ETH Zurich, I studied microbial predation and microbial food webs. As a postdoc with Jamie Hall at the University of Liverpool, I studied how interaction networks shape evolution of bacteria and plasmids in microbial communities. I am currently a postdoc with Mike Brockhurst at the University of Manchester, investigating evolutionary constraints and evolution of interactions in microbial communities.
